  • Bluetooth Tips
When an Apple bluetooth keyboard, mouse, or trackpad won’t connect
Apple’s latest input devices — Magic Keyboards, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2 — are all wireless bluetooth devices with rechargeable batteries. Apple provides USB to Lightning cables to charge them. If your input device doesn't connect to your Mac wirelessly, then plug it in to a USB port on that Mac as if you need to charge it. You can use the keyboard and trackpad as a “wired” device — the mouse, not so much (it’s charging port is on the bottom). However, this plugging in also gets the Mac to recognize and pair with the device through bluetooth. So, after being plugged in for a bit, you can unplug and the bluetooth connection should take over and you can use the device wirelessly once again.
    Reset the Bluetooth module
Hold down both the option and shift keys on your keyboard and click on the bluetooth menu in the menu bar. Choose “Reset the Bluetooth module” from the expanded menu. This will often clear up any Bluetooth anomalies without having to restart the Mac.

Terms o’ the Month

Video format file extensions.

MPEG2
Format used on DVDs. Not designed for editing.

MP4

WMV

Video Editing

Three major parts of creating a video on your device.

  • Import media
  • Process the video
  • Export the video

But before you begin, do some planning. What’s the story you want to tell? John often writes a script to inform his importing and processing.

John proceeded to elaborate on this process by demonstrating iMovie for macOS and iPadOS. Please watch his posted video of the meeting for all the movie-making goodness. If you have an iOS device or a Mac, consider creating a short video of your own to share with the group. You can post it on our Facebook page or contact John or Barry to arrange how to share it with just MVCUG.
